National Premises & Flock IDs
National Premises IDs are tied to a specific location. If you move, your ID does not move with you so you would need to apply for a new ID number. National Premises IDs are for cattle, bison, swine, sheep and goats.
Arizona Flock IDs are tied to animals. If you move, your ID moves with you so you do not need to apply for a new ID number. Arizona Flock IDs are also referred to as Scrapie IDs. If you want to obtain Scrapie tags from the federal government, a flock ID is required because National Premises ID numbers cannot be put on the Scrapie tags. Arizona Flock IDs are for swine, sheep and goats. All swine born on your premises must be identified with your Arizona Flock ID number, either a tattoo or a specially-made tamper-proof ear tag applied by you. For sheep and goats, your Arizona Flock ID number shall be used to comply with state and federal sheep and goat identification requirements and to order Scrapie tags. To order Scrapie tags, please call 505-761-3160 or fax 505-761-3176.
