All locations where eggs are sold or stored in the state are subject to inspections. These locations include retailers, dealers, packers, cold storage facilities, bakeries, and institutions. Restaurants are visited on a complaint basis.

Most of the eggs sold in Arizona are from a commercial operation. All of their product is required to be washed, graded, and sized. The producer and distributor are licensed with the Department and get inspected monthly.

The State Program is funded by the consumer. The price of eggs includes a $0.003 per dozen fee that is to be paid by the wholesale distributor who passes it onto the customer (see ARS 3-716).
