The Weights and Measures Service Division (WMSD), working with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), responds quickly to evaluate the potential need for a fuel waiver under the Clean Air Act. A fuel waiver is a temporary waiver of certain controls or prohibitions on the use of a fuel or a fuel additive by the EPA. In the event of a fuel waiver issued by EPA, WMSD issues enforcement discretion related to state fuel requirements.
