Pest Management Division

Overview

The Pest Management Division (PMD) is responsible for regulating Arizona’s non-agricultural (aka “structural”) pest management industry, which includes licensing businesses and applicators that provide pest, termite, weed, public health, and aquatic pest management, as well as structural fumigation.  PMD enforces state and federal laws governing pesticides, including use, storage, disposal, and recordkeeping requirements.

To provide consumer protection, the PMD’s inspection staff conduct routine inspections of pest management businesses to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations relating to the use of pesticides and pesticide recordkeeping requirements.  The PMD investigates consumer complaints involving all matters within its jurisdiction, including those pertaining to unlicensed pest management activity.  

PMD staff also provides training and outreach to pest control operators, landscapers, school administrators and staff, childcare facility operators, Arizona political subdivisions, homeowner associations, and other groups interested in learning more about structural pesticide use requirements or becoming licensed to apply pesticides in structural settings.
